Colette Fairchild began working in the pet industry at age 14 at her local pet store and worked at Pier 1 Imports as the tropical fish department manager during  her college years.

Following her graduation from Northern Illinois University where she majored in Journalism/Public Relations, Colette began working as an editorial assistant for PET AGE magazine, owned by H.H. Backer Associates.  She switched over to working on the company’s two exhibitions, where she served as trade show coordinator for six years.

After working for a variety of meeting and incentive companies for the following 10 years, Colette returned to H.H. Backer to lead the company’s trade show division in 1998, where she has been trade show director ever since.
